What surprised me was that it has a halfway respectable lead cast (maybe John Agar wasn't available?). From today's viewpoint, it does look hilariously dated, but then, as anyone who saw last year's Cowboys vs. Aliens,' this seems to be a genre whose cliches, even in spite of high-tech CGI, remain unalterably fixed.
